Our Future

We are working together to make Ironton stronger than ever. We envision a future for Ironton that is free from outsize threats from flooding because we have adequate water management infrastructure. In this future, our homes will be raised and our streets will be designed to withstand and mitigate flooding. In this future, children play on our sports field and residents gather in a community center to plan, to celebrate, and to enjoy their time together. We envision a future where broadband internet connects us to family, community, employment opportunities outside of our community. We envision a future where we can work with our neighbors to build and sustain a prosperous and resilient environment for everybody.

Realization of this vision will require deep collaborative effort. IRAD’s board members have worked tirelessly since Ida struck to secure our community’s collective future. We have facilitated countless community meetings. We have met with parish, state, and federal officials. We have worked with state- and national level NGOs to navigate the opportunities and pitfalls of disaster redevelopment. We welcome your support.
